Mayfair House Hotel & Garden

More than two years in the making, the new Mayfair House Hotel & Garden – originally The Mayfair Hotel & Spa, in the center of Coconut Grove that first opened in 1985 – is now officially reopen. The transformation includes fully renovated guest rooms, curated art from local and international artists, and an oasis that fuses both the glamour and sophistication of the hotel’s iconic past with the vibrant, free spirited heart of today’s Coconut Grove neighborhood.

Coconut Grove is a unique neighborhood in Miami located at the shoreline of Biscayne Bay. Coconut Grove is an upscale, leafy neighborhood with relaxed sidewalk cafes and chic shops in and around the CocoWalk mall. The area’s green spaces include Peacock Park, the bayfront Barnacle Historic State Park, home to a mangrove forest, and the iconic Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, centered on a lavish Italian-style villa. There are sailing clubs and marinas on the waterfront, most of which are within walking distance of the hotel. As a native Miamian, I have lived In Coconut Grove and find it to be a special place to visit.

The heart of Mayfair House Hotel & Garden is its vibrant and sun-filled courtyard and garden, filled with lush plantings, cascading fountains, beautiful pools, fanciful copper lighting, and sculptural architectural details. Guests access their rooms from the outdoor corridors that surround the garden, experiencing the green oasis by day and night. There is a hand-painted wall mural by Bahamian artist Angelika Wallace-Whitfield that serves as a colorful backdrop to the stunning rooftop pool. The hotel also features a gym with a full suite of state-of-the-art exercise equipment.

Each guest room was designed to be a “small private home” with its own terrace and living, dining, and sleeping areas that are accessible from Mayfair’s main courtyard Guests can choose from eight room types – Studio King, Deluxe Eden Studio, Deluxe Double King, Premium Suite, Studio Garden King, Grand Luxe Corner Suite, Grand Luxe Two-Bedroom Suite and Mayfair Penthouse – ranging from 500 square feet to 1,124 square feet in size. Guest rooms offer deep stand alone bathtubs, private walled gardens, and outdoor showers. Each guestroom has its own unique design and furnishings

The hotel’s namesake Mayfair Grill restaurant, garden-café, and Fountain Bar serves cuisine inspired by the wood-fueled, open-fire flavors of the American Southwest. Celebrating Coconut Grove’s Bahamian and Caribbean ancestry, Sipsip (named for the Bahamian word for “sharing news”) is a Calypso-style rooftop pool bar with island-inspired cocktails, an extensive rum program, a Caribbean menu, and live music.

Mayfair House Hotel & Garden is located at 3000 Florida Avenue, Miami.
