As of this writing, the Dolphins have lost five in a row and the losses were probably justified since they were against good teams and were assisted by too much sloppy play by a young, developing team.
The most disappointing aspect of the games was that there was little improvement by the Dolphins other than the defense which got stronger as the games came along, except for the secondary which often appeared positioned too loose especially late in games. And all the teams, including the Dolphins, have incurred far too many penalties including many questionable calls, a situation that the league should find troubling if it continues late into the season.
A couple of positive points cannot be lost just because of the losses. First, the offensive line is slowly getting its act together; however, it still must develop a plan to protect the quarterback better. Willis has played well in spurts but has had to scramble too often to avoid sacks and has been inconsistent in the accuracy of his passes too often as well. Second, there is no question that the entire team has played with great effort, though I would like to see a more expressive attitude on the sideline after the on-field team has contributed a great play to stifle a drive by the opponent.
It was also positive to see back-ups come through in the absence of an injured Achane, whose loss could have been a major disaster had not others like Gordon stepped into his cleats and caused the offense not lose a beat.
I must also add my personal observation that. other than in the Bengals game, the announcers have been too loud, boisterous and down right cocky for those of us off-site to be able to enjoy their report of the contest. They need to understand that they are not the ones we have tuned into to watch and put a cap on their mouths.
