It’s difficult to put glitter on a 62-100 season, but let’s try.
There was a lot of activity during the summer with some solid position players being traded and a lot of new faces trying to find their way >around loanDepot Park. In the end, what initially appeared to be a lot of players with short resumes may just have resulted in the team acquiring some very talented players, a few of whom could require some further seasoning in the minor leagues.
The familiar faces and new arrivals who may grace the opening day lineup include Connor Norby, Jake Burger, Xavier Edwards, Otto Lopex, Augustin Ramirez, Jesus Sanchez, and Deyvison De Los Santos. The 2025 season actually starts in Japan on March 18 with the regular season starting March 27.
Pitching has been the mainstay of the team for several years, and next year should yield similar performances by the starters and relievers as well. There could be improvement, but the initial group should be more than adequate.
The new management has worked doggedly to reconstruct the team’s farm system, which should give fans confidence that they will be capable of unleashing the potential of the old and the new. The next couple of years should be interesting and, for a change, exciting.
