MARCH TO JUNE

Springtime

Spring this year starts Monday, March 20 and ends Wednesday, June 20. As a native Floridian, June feels like summer to me. Let’s hope this spring the cooler weather lasts a little longer. Summer officially starts on June 21 and lasts through September 23.

Spring is a favorite time of year for many. It is a time to enjoy great weather, special holidays and beautiful displays of foliage and flowers.

Spring and “springtime” also define a time of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection and regrowth.

In many cultures, spring is celebrated with festivals revolving around its importance in food production. The concept of spring is associated with the sowing of crops. During this time of the year, all plants begin growth anew after the dormancy of winter. Animals are greatly affected, too: they come out of their winter dormancy or hibernation and begin their nesting and reproducing activities, and birds migrate in response to the warmer temperatures.

Here are some important dates and holidays that occur this spring.
