Although many fans cried for some major trades during the off-season, even one including fan-favorite Jimmy Butler, the best move in that direction came in the draft when the Heat acquired 7’ 0” 230 lb. Kel’el Ware. That will certainly pan out well for the team if he can provide added rebounding in the center position and the necessary bulk to block the opposition players slicing to the bracket as often as they did last season.
Whether he can transition to a good mid-range shooter such as Bam has done remains to be seen. The talent seems to be there.
Aside from Bam, and absent any further player movements, the starting group will probably include Butler, Herro, Jaquez and Duncan Robinson. Also available at that level are Nikola, Love, Richardson and Rozier Supporting roles can be adequately filled by Thomas Bryant (6’10”,248 lbs.), Cole Swider (6’9”, 220 lbs.), and Josh Christopher in the guard slot.
I doubt that management has terminated negotiations to strengthen the team further, but that remains to be seen. Whether they add some more up-front or other talent, the current roster is good, but whether strong enough to stave off some of the team’s toughest opponents will be determined when the season begins October 22. But watch out for the following teams and their season W – L percentages last season: Celtics .780, Knicks .610 and the 76ers .573, among others.
Either way, it should be an interesting season; but, I prefer to being treated to a very successful one instead. THE HEAT IS ON!
