The Miami metropolitan area, officially known as the Miami – Fort Lauderdale – West Palm Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area, is the sixth-largest metropolitan statistical area (MSA) in the United States, the third-largest metropolitan area in the Southern United States, and the largest metropolitan area in Florida. It is internationally known for its tourism, cuisine, luxury yachts, cruise lines, international finance, international trade, sport fishing, sports of all types, health care, etc.
With this in mind, why in the world does our local TV media constantly report nightly about car accidents in small towns, early morning shootings, brutal marital conflicts and the like? Is there nothing to report about our governments, air and ship terminals, chambers of commerce, courts, businesses, space ventures, or any other activities that would be of far greater interest than what we are almost forced to stare at nightly? If I were in a foreign country and witnessed reporting of this nature I would have no choice but to pledge never to live in such a place.
And what about our weather reporting? No wonder the local meteorologists can brag about their years of accuracy when their reports cover everything from a bright sunny day to an Apocalypse. Don’t plan your day or evening on them without understanding that nearly the opposite climate might well greet you. Luckily, we can count on a beautiful day or evening if you give it a little chance. I understand the difficulty in gauging the paths of weather especially for we who reside on a peninsula, but let’s try to pin things down a little tighter for those who only have a few days to enjoy our lifestyle.
At some time in the future, we may be able to assign climate predictions to AI, but most of us would rather rely on the human brain and a person’s ability to analyze current and historic data and respond with weather predictions that are mainly accurate.
Now please don’t get me started on TV advertising. Talk about something embarrassing!
